Grape composition and Terroir
This prestigious cuvée is created from a subtle blend of Grenache (65%) , Syrah (20%) and Mourvèdre (15%) . The grapes are grown on a terroir characterized by limestone, covered with rolled pebbles, which contribute to both heat absorption and water drainage. This demanding environment ensures high quality grapes that give the wine its depth and complexity.
Vinification and Storage
The vinification process for Clos du Roi 2020 has been carefully carried out to highlight both fruit and finesse:
- Plot weeding with 10-15% stems preserves structure and freshness.
- Fermentation at low temperature in tulip-shaped concrete vats ensures precise aroma extraction.
- Subsequent post-fermentation maceration for two weeks gives extra depth.
- Aging is distributed in barrels (15%) , casks (25%) and concrete vats (60%) for 18 months, which balances the purity of the fruit with fine tannins and spicy notes.
- The wine undergoes a light filtration before bottling in the spring of 2022.

- Aroma : An aromatic symphony of candied black cherries, blackcurrants, and roses that develop into spicy notes of white pepper, juniper berries and a light touch of undergrowth.
