Red wine - Beaujolais

Red wines from Beaujolais are famous for their light, fruity and lively character, and the dominant grape in the region is Gamay . Beaujolais wines are known for their immediate drinking pleasure and freshness, with flavor notes of red berries such as cherries, strawberries and raspberries, as well as a touch of spice. These wines have a soft mouthfeel, low tannin structure and a fresh acidity, which makes them perfect for light meals such as grilled meats, charcuterie and pasta.

Beaujolais Nouveau is the young, first wine of the season, released every year on the third Thursday of November. This wine is very popular for its fruitiness, but does not have much aging potential.

For those seeking more complex and age-worthy wines, Beaujolais also offers wines from the prestigious Cru Beaujolais regions. One of the most well-known of these regions is Morgon , which produces wines with depth and structure. Morgon wines have intense flavor notes of dark berries, spices and undertones of earth and minerals, giving them potential for aging and making them ideal for heartier dishes such as grilled meats and game.

Régnié , another of Beaujolais' Crus, also offers wines with great character. The wines from Régnié are often more delicate and fruity than those from Morgon, but they still have good structure and a slightly spicy finish. Régnié wines are ideal for lighter meals such as poultry, grilled pork or even cheeses.

Other recognized Cru Beaujolais areas such as Fleurie , Chiroubles , and Moulin-à-Vent also produce wines that range from light and fruity to more complex and structured, making Beaujolais a versatile region with something for everyone.
