A family winery with a passion for organic and biodynamic wine
Generation after generation, our family has followed a philosophy that is at the core of our work:
"Making wine is extracting heaven from the earth."
The name Buisson is closely associated with Saint-Romain – a wine-growing village with deep roots in French wine production. Since 1758, our family has been growing vines, but it was Henri Buisson who took the first big step. He planted five hectares of vines, thus writing the first chapter in the family’s history as independent winegrowers. In 1947, the same year that Saint-Romain received its AOC status, he founded the family vineyard that still exists today.
Organic wine production and sustainable development
Since then, independence and sustainability have been our key principles. Henri Buisson's son, Gilles , and his wife Monica expanded the vineyard, which reached 14 hectares in 2000. They built a new vat room and invested in modern winemaking equipment, which improved the quality and efficiency of the vineyard.
A new generation of biodynamic winemakers
Today, the legacy is continued by Franck and Frédérick Buisson , sons of Gilles and grandsons of Henri. They took over the vineyard in 2008 with a burning passion for biodynamic wine and the unique terroir of Burgundy . Their goal is to tell the story of the land through their wines, spread the vineyard's reputation internationally, while protecting nature.
Henri Buisson was already a pioneer of organic wine production in the 1960s and 70s. Today, Franck and Frédérick run a vineyard of almost 20 hectares, certified organic since 2009 and 100% biodynamic since 2018.
The future of wine production: Innovation and respect for nature
By combining scientific innovation with the rhythm of nature , Franck and Frédérick create high-quality wines in harmony with the environment. Through a holistic approach to winemaking, they ensure that each bottle reflects the authentic expression of Saint-Romain and the family's passion for sustainable viticulture .
